Canadian Gold Hunter Announces Thick Copper-Gold Drill Intercepts in the Donnelly Zone at GJ Project

Aug 18, 2004 - 03:01 ET

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 18, 2004) - (CGH - TSX) ... Canadian Gold Hunter Corp. (the "Company") is pleased to provide an update on the summer diamond drilling program on the GJ/Kinaskan copper-gold project in northern British Columbia.

The Company has received assay results from the first four holes of a planned 20 hole, 5000-metre diamond drill program. Holes 04-001 to 04-003, which tested the eastern extension of the Donnelly Zone, intersected mineralized intervals in excess of 200 metres (see table). Hole 04-004 was lost in a fault prior to testing the zone. The previous thickest drill intercept on the Donnelly Zone was in drill hole 80-14, which intersected an 111-metre mineralized interval.

Copper-gold mineralization has now been traced for over a one-kilometre strike length on the Donnelly Zone from hole 77-03 in the west to hole 04-01 in the east. The three holes reported herein are 200-metre step outs.

Rick Bailes, President of CGH, commented, "These three holes are essentially mineralized from top to bottom and add significantly to the tonnage potential of the Donnelly Zone. They are drilled in an area that was previously on the property boundary and as such was never tested before."

The GJ/Kinaskan gold/copper property consists of a large claim group covering several significant porphyry copper-gold systems as well as a number of high-grade gold vein systems.

The focus of the summer drilling is the Groat porphyry where copper-gold mineralization is associated with a poorly exposed elongated stock of monzodiorite, which intrudes andesite and volcaniclastic sediments. Three mineralized zones have been discovered that are associated with the Groat porphyry: the Donnelly Zone, the GJ Zone and the North Zone. Significant gold-rich porphyry deposits that occur in the same general area are Red Chris; 236 million tonnes grading 0.46% copper and 0.37g/t gold, and Galore Creek; 284 million tones grading 0.67% copper and 0.35g/t gold.

Drill core was prepared and analyzed by ALS Chemex in accordance with industry standards. Drill results and technical data were reviewed by R. J. Bailes, P. Geo., a Qualified Person pursuant to NI 43-101.

CGH is engaged in gold exploration focused on its Canadian projects. The GJ drill program is one of five diamond drill programs that are planned over the summer and fall of 2004. Drilling is ongoing at the Assean Lake gold project in Manitoba and the Noomut gold project in Nunavut. Drilling will commence in the early fall on the Bob Creek and Manson Creek gold projects in B.C. The Company has a 100% interest in the GJ claims.

ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD
